Wellbeing

At University Park Primary School, student wellbeing is prioritised alongside student learning.

UPPS staff are trained in the Berry Street Education Model and approach learning through a trauma-informed lens that benefits all students. Through daily morning circles and community-building routines, each classroom provides an environment in which every child feels safe, heard and known.

Through our Social-Emotional Learning program and the Respectful Relationships program, we teach children how to regulate their emotions, advocate for themselves and seek help when needed.

Our Wellbeing and Engagement Leading Teacher works closely with families to understand individual wellbeing needs and provide support through the Department’s Student Support Services or through referrals to external agencies in St Albans and the wider community.

UPPS employs a speech therapist and occupational therapist, in addition to offering a range of wellbeing interventions such as Canine Comprehension and Art Therapy. We also partner with NDIS providers to ensure all families can access the therapies and supports their children require.
