Digital Pedagogy
Developing capable digital learners who operate technology efficiently and safely is a priority at UPPS.
We enable students from Grade 1 – 6 to utilise their own personal iPad in the classroom. In addition we offer a classroom bank of shared devices so that all students have access from Foundation to Grade 6.
iPad’s, Chromebooks and technology are used to enhance the learning experience, not replace it. We provide a suite of applications that enable students to demonstrate their learning, access information and collaborate with one another.
We are a Google based school. This means that every student has their own University Park Primary email address which enables them to access Google Workspace for Education.
Online safety is paramount. Embedded within the curriculum is a focus on safe use of the internet and applications.
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths)
STEAM is an acronym that stands for SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART, and MATHS. The model was designed to develop students skills in problem-solving, innovation, creative thinking and digital skills.
We integrate STEAM into our Investigations – where one session a week is STEAM based. We have a dedicated STEAM Space where students come specifically to make, create and problem solve as part of their learning. Where possible, students follow the engineering cycle.
