Student Management

UPPS takes a Restorative Approach to working with all students in the school.  This means that we address all incidents within the yard and the classroom in a calm and positive manner.  We model and teach assertive behaviours to promote the wellbeing of all individuals within our school community.  This enhances self-esteem, resilience, confidence, safety and connectedness – all considered to be protective factors in young people.

A Restorative Approach is one that ensures adults and children work together to resolve issues.  A resolution to a situation is reached by working with students, rather than taking a punitive or neglectful approach, when dealing with situations in the classroom and/or school yard.  Such an approach is highly supportive and highly controlled, in its manner, thus promoting favourable outcomes for all involved.
