Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program

Stephanie Alexander is a world renowned chef and food writer who in the early 2000s devised a program which would excite primary school aged children in the process of understanding the growth of healthy foods and how these can be prepared into healthy, nourishing meals.

Her motto for this program is GROWING, HARVESTING, PREPARING AND SHARING.

Towards the end of the 2012 school year, UPPS applied to become a school implementing the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. I am pleased to announce that our schools’ application was successful.

A major component of our commitment to the program is that we construct a fully functioning kitchen- with stations were students work in teams to prepare their meals, a dining area where students and staff enjoy their meals and an environmentally friendly and productive vegetable, herb and fruit gardens.

In the coming weeks and months we will be looking for assistance and support in gaining the necessary materials, appliances and labour to get this program off the ground.

If you would like to assist in any way or have contacts at, or links with, any local hardware or appliance stores, builders, etc. we would greatly appreciate your assistance in getting the necessary infrastructure organised, please see Mrs Dingley or Mr. Azzopardi .
